I earned my Degree in Economics (DES) from Università Bocconi in 1980. I obtained in 1985 the Doctorat de troisieme cycle at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences sociales in Paris. Since 2000 I am Associate Professor at the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management.
I am responsible of the Arts and Heritage Major in the Ms ACME of the Graduate School of Università Bocconi and of the Arts and Culture courses at the Cleacc Undergaduate programme at Bocconi. I have been visiting professor at the Phd School of IMT Lucca: Heritage management and development.
I am president of the International Center for Arts and Culture of Palazzo Te (Mantova) and I am a board member of Italia Rugby Federation, Fondazione Piccolo Teatro (MIlano) and Fondazione Antonio Ratti (Como).
Trained as economic historian, I developed research projects on the history of economic thought and the history of Italia Stock Exchanges (Regolazione e competizione, il Mulino 1995; Regolazione e Crisi, Egea, 2000). From the late Nineties I focused on the analysis of the transformation of cultural production systems at national and international level. In particular I developed a study on the transformation of the Italian operatic system (Mercanti dell'Opera, Il Saggiatore, 2011) and, more recently, a research on the global system of contemporary visual art (Cosmopolitan Canvases, Oxford University Press, 2015).
