About

My research explores two main areas: the political and social dynamics of global governance, and the practice of global health and social protection. I have published three books and over 50 articles in leading academic journals, including the American Journal of Political Science, American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, World Development, and The Lancet

I am a recipient of the Henrik Enderlein Prize for Research Excellence in the Social Sciences (2024), as well as multiple awards from professional associations for my writing. I have also received four research excellence awards from Bocconi.

The findings of my research have attracted international media coverage, including by the New York Times, Le Monde, El País, Reuters and the BBC, and have informed parliamentary debates in the UK, Greece, and the European Parliament. Beyond academia, I have advised a range of governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations, including Germany’s Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Health Organization, and Oxfam International. I also served as Vice-President of Greece’s National Centre for Social Solidarity (2020-2024).
